    Running second to the HCA giant, Tenet Healthcare, through its subsidiaries, owns and operates 111 acute-care hospitals with 27,300 beds and numerous related healthcare services. The company employs approximately 106,501 people serving communities in 17 states, as well as a facility in Barcelona, Spain.


    In June, the company announced finalization of a $55 million deal to purchase two Daniel Freeman hospitals - a 358-bed facility in Inglewood, CA, and a 166-bed center in Marina del Rey, CA. - from the Carondelet Health System. Together, the hospitals generated net patient revenues of about $175 million in the most recent year.


    The company also has pledged to invest an additional $50 million over the next 10 years for capital improvements and service expansions to enhance quality and access to healthcare services in the southwest Los Angeles communities served by the hospitals.
