Christoph Trappe: Hello, building owners and facility managers. It’s Christoph Trappe with Buildings.com. We’re still at the BOMA conference in Salt Lake City. And now I’m joined by Brian Wilson and Lindsay King with Allied Universal. Thanks for joining us.

Brian Wilson: Our pleasure to be here. Thank you.

Lindsay King: Thank you.

Christoph: So, the reason we’re talking is their company released a new product that uses artificial intelligence. Of course, we’re talking about new technologies all the time. Things are changing how we work, how we predict what’s happening.

So, talk about what does this new product, what does it do? How does it help with artificial intelligence?

Brian: What makes Heliaus different is the artificial intelligence. And the artificial intelligence engine takes attributes from all of our clients and looks for common things that occur at each of those sites. It then takes and examines those and creates a way of being able to predict what’s going to occur before it happens.

We actually moved from a respond-and-react to a predict-and-prevent type of scenario with our officers, so that we can stay ahead of the issues that might occur at a building site.

Christoph: So, Lindsay, you were showing me an example is if there’s a lot of falls or trips in an area caused by who knows what, some people spilling stuff or leaving things out I guess, the system triggers you to come out there more often to check on the area, correct?

Lindsay: That’s right. It’s going to recommend when and where they should be and what they should be looking for.

So, as they start to see an incident, slip and falls, or any hazards like that in common places like cafeterias or restrooms where you might see leaks happening, it will start to recommend for us to go actively look to prevent those type of things.

Christoph: What’s going to happen if we’re not seeing these barriers? So, I can just see people going, ‘Oh, artificial intelligence. It’s not perfect.’

Lindsay: It’s not perfect, but it starts to pick up on those trends. And it’s really just going to help us to really bring those trends down.

One of the things Heliaus can do, is it can show you over time, comparative of how incident categories are going down and how we’re providing a return on investment to our customers based on less incidents happening at their site.

Christoph: And, of course, the more often it predicts it correctly. So, it predicts it based on what it knows from the past, right? That’s basically how it works?

Brian: Well, yes. But it’s also making those calculations in real time as new data is coming in. So, that information is offered up to the officer in more real time, which then can make changes to the way that they perform their routes or where they go and what time they go there.

So, they’re always at the right place at the right time.

Christoph: So, of course, we have a lot of different building owners listening here. Define to me when you use the term “officer.” Who is using this system?

Brian: Those are the security professional, the officer, the Allied Universal officer that is out doing his normal patrol.

Think of it as ability to direct his day-to-day activity and hour-by-hour activity. And always updating with the artificial intelligence, so that it will always provide them the right information, the most recent information, calculated on where to be, when to be there.

Christoph: So, this is being rolled out as part of your services then?

Brian: Yes. Just recently rolled out this past Thursday and it is our lead product in being able to interconnect a number of different services, including cameras. Eventually, we’re going to be doing robotics and other services with drones and things of that nature.

Christoph: Great. Thank you for joining us. Thanks for being a Cornerstone Partner here at BOMA. Christoph Trappe with Buildings.com. Thanks for listening.
