Allegion US has introduced an addition to the Schlage L Series—Motorized Latch Retraction mortise locks. They can replace the need for electric strike use in a form that’s more secure and aesthetically pleasing. They operate quietly, making them ideal for healthcare environments or anywhere that users repeatedly enter and exit.

Six functions span keyed, non-keyed, and lever control options; all of them employ a quiet stepper motor that uses 24V DC to produce high torque at low speeds. Three functions offer latch retraction for momentary or continuous operation, and another three functions feature lever control that allows the locking and unlocking of the lever, managed by a separate motor. Nearly all allow options for request-to-exit (RX) and latchbolt (LX) monitoring.
