Leviton, through its Certolux brand, has launched ShieldCare, a ligature-resistant inset door frame for lighting fixtures that’s engineered for the specific needs of behavioral health environments.

Standard ligature-resistant luminaires require cutting and removing tamper-resistant sealing for servicing, but ShieldCare (pictured here on the Certolux MBH-1 recessed luminaire) allows room-side access for serviceability without disturbing the sealant, reducing maintenance labor, downtime, and long-term operational costs. The one-piece doorframe seals tightly to the housing to eliminate typical ligature points found in inset-door luminaires, reducing the risk of self-harm for patients.
