New Code Tool for Water Conservation

Oct. 21, 2015

Resource to help FMs in regions facing water challenges.

A new tool has been created to help FMs and other building professionals better manage water in areas facing shortages or drought. The Water Efficiency Provisions of the 2015 International Green Construction Code includes resources and references , efficiency provisions, and best practices for indoor and outdoor water conservation throughout the International Green Construction Code (IgCC).

Additionally, the WEP guide includes Chapter 13 on Nonpotable Water Systems from the 2015 International Plumbing Code, as well as the water use provisions found in ANSI/ASHRAE/USGBC/IES 189.1-2014 Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings. Topics to promote water conservation associated with the building and the site include mechanical system optimization, landscape irrigation, efficient appliance selection tips, and provisions for alternate water sources such as rainwater, greywater, and reclaimed water. The tool is available in softcover or PDF format (learn more here).
