Which major U.S. city is doing the most to advance energy efficiency?
According to a new report conducted by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), Boston was recognized as having the strongest overall policies aimed at cutting energy use and costs.
The report is the first to rank populous cities exclusively on energy efficiency efforts. Cities are evaluated on what actions they are taking to reduce energy use across five categories: buildings, transportation, energy and water utility efforts, local government operations, and community-wide initiatives.
The top five most energy efficient cities are:
1. Boston
2. Portland
3. San Francisco and New York
5. Seattle
