A new web-based tool aims to accelerate market transformation by providing greater transparency and understanding of green buildings.
The free Green Building Information Gateway (GBIG), introduced by the USGBC, draws on the organization’s history of certified LEED projects to detail steps taken by project teams. This allows users to find patterns among projects, people, products, and services to guide their own certification projects.
For example, imagine your company has just purchased an office tower in Cleveland, OH, that was certified LEED-CI Silver several years ago and now wants to obtain LEED-EBOM certification. Using GBIG, you can view a timeline of green activities at the building’s address, view what other buildings in town have done, and check out the strategies other projects have used to obtain particular credits.
Occupant comfort surveys, for instance, were conducted 783 times at 615 buildings. Explore these surveys further by clicking on the “Activities” tab, which provides a map showing the locations of other properties utilizing surveys.
