Replacement Hospital
This healthcare system had outgrown its surgery department and needed a new unit. The replacement surgery and central sterile addition includes 18 operating rooms, 25 pre/post-op rooms, a 19-bay post-anesthesia unit, a central sterile/decontamination unit, distribution warehouse, receiving area and three-bay loading dock. The expansion/renovation also called for a new hospital entry/lobby with a large canopy with a modern look that complements the original structure. Family rooms provide privacy for discussions between families and physicians.

Hospital ADDITIONS Two new additions add 27,000 square feet to an existing hospital. The first addition is a one-story main entrance to the hospital with a new lobby, concierge desk, privatized registration bays and gift shop. The second addition is a two-story clinical services structure with radiology department, sleep labs, clinic space, education center and administrative space. The exterior design of the additions incorporates the existing hospital’s distinctive green mansard roof and pitched canopies. The design relocated existing pitched canopies to a new entrance drive and an outdoor picnic area.
