Trying to change the current landscape of home security, a new start-up claims that you'll soon be able to defend your facility or house with just a small drone.
Sunflower Labs, headquartered in Silicon Valley and Zurich, Switzerland, announced the new security system works with your smartphone by streaming video from a nearby drone to view potential risks. The "Sunflower Home Awareness System" relies on the drone and a few in-ground smart lights. Together, the system detects motion, vibration and sound, and can detect whether it's a person or an animal that is close to your building. If a person is detected, the drone will hover near until you tell it to return to its nest. There is also an option to inform local law enforcement immediately with just a touch of the app.
Currently, the company is accepting participant applications and will start beta tests in 2017. The price has not been announced yet, but the lights are expected to cost approximately $159 each. To read more about the security system, please visit the Sunflower Labs website.
