Product Innovations is BUILDINGS’ annual award program that recognizes the most effective and innovative interior products. Exhibitors at NeoCon 2018 were eligible to participate in the competition by submitting products, and the BUILDINGS editorial team evaluated them on their merits in performance, sustainability and maintenance.
Finalists were judged at NeoCon in June. We recognized several trends this year:
- The emergence of privacy booths. As open plan offices dominate the modern workplace, employees need spaces where they can get away from the hustle and bustle that may distract them from phone calls or video conferences. We feature a few privacy booth options this year (including our Editors’ Choice, Privacy Pod Plus by Emagispace) that give workers a spot to focus.
- Acoustics is always a major focus at NeoCon, and products combatting noise pollution and distraction from poor sound quality were plentiful. Acoustics no longer needs to get in the way of design. Many products are available to improve sound quality and seamlessly fit into the office aesthetic.
- Overall, the workplace is more active than before. Products in the workplace need to facilitate lively organizations and people who need adaptable solutions.
