Invensys' US - Based Building Systems Group and Tridium Inc. Announce Strategic Relationship

Dec. 7, 2001

Richmond, Va., (December 4, 2001) - Invensys Building Systems - Americas, a leader in the automation and controls industry, and Tridium Inc., a leading provider of Internet-based control and automation infrastructure, today announce the formation of a long-term strategic relationship. The alliance allows Tridium’s universal software infrastructure - called Niagara Framework™ - to be used as part of Invensys’ North American Intelligent Automation I/A Series® Building Management System Architecture.

The North American Building Systems Group provides a customer a single source for comprehensive HVAC and control system solutions for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings. Superior engineering, combined with IS0 9001 certification and Six Sigma lean manufacturing, ensures that products conform to the highest standards of quality, providing solid performance, unsurpassed value and exceptional reliability. By utilizing Tridium’s Niagara Framework for North American applications, the Invensys I/A Series Building Management System allows customers to access and control diverse building systems, in order to gather information needed to make facilities comfortable, secure, efficient and cost effective to operate. The I/A Series also delivers investment protection through the implementation of open architecture technologies and backward compatibility with the NETWORK 8000® and DMS Building Management Systems.

The Niagara Framework allows Invensys Building Systems - Americas to build Java-based, energy management software applications that integrate open protocols, such as LonWorks®, BACnet® and Modbus™, as well as legacy monitoring and control systems via the Internet into an interoperable control system. Software applications using the Niagara Framework can monitor, automate and control the temperature, heating, ventilation and other control systems—in one facility or a host of facilities - from anywhere in the world via the Internet, as well as extract critical energy data to better manage energy consumption and reduce energy costs

“By applying Tridium’s Niagara Framework in North America, we are pleased to be able to offer state-of-the-art Internet solutions to our existing and future customers. The relationship between Invensys and Tridium provides strategic sales growth opportunities for both organizations,” said Brent Bernardi, vice president and general manager, Invensys Energy Solutions, Building Systems - Americas.

Tridium’s relationship with Invensys expands its strategic alliances with leading corporations in the energy services, building control, home automation and industrial control industries, totaling more than 100 worldwide.

“Invensys is an industry leader, and our alliance with the company is extremely exciting. It is a testament to our revolutionary Niagara Framework technology and the variety of Web-enabled energy management applications that can be built upon it,” said Jerry Frank, Tridium president and CEO. “We look forward to working with Invensys to help expand the quality services the division provides its customers in North America.”
