A new data center energy efficiency certification is now available through Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Power Assure.
Server manufacturers can use this performance testing and certification, called PAR4, to create products for energy conscious data center operators. Testing measures actual power consumption that can then be related to total cost of ownership.
The UL PAR4 program will help create added value and advantages for data center product manufacturers and consumers, including:
- Manufacturers can use the PAR4 badge on marketing materials, packaging, and on the product to demonstrate their energy efficiency performance, once the product is certified.
- The Energy Verified badge creates allows data center operators to easily identify energy conscious products.
- Testing figures can help in planning new builds.
