NADCA’s Updated HVAC Assessment, Cleaning and Restoration Standard Now Available for Public Review

Aug. 7, 2009

NADCA, the HVAC Inspection, Maintenance and Restoration Association has announced that a draft version of its standard, Assessment, Cleaning and Restoration of HVAC Systems, is now available for public review and comment.

Since its first publication in 1992, the NADCA’s standard has been internationally recognized and referenced by regulators, consumer advocates, and other experts as a trustworthy and comprehensive compilation of best practices in inspection, maintenance, and restoration of HVAC systems. This most current draft of the ACR standard departs significantly from previous versions and is written by residential, commercial, and institutional consumers, in addition to HVAC professionals.

The changes reflect significant feedback from HVAC professionals, building owners, regulators, and other stakeholders to NADCA’s Standards Committee.

“This new edition of the ACR standard replaces pages of technical details with a set of 10 Standard Requirements that, when followed, ensure high quality performance for maintaining HVAC systems,” says Buck Sheppard, president at NADCA. “One of our primary goals with this new style of standard is to empower end users by making it easier for them to understand what to expect from their contractor.”

Review copies of the draft standard can be found on the NADCA website at www.nadca.com.
