Buildings magazine pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Washington, D.C.-based Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Intl

Founded in 1907 as the National Association of Building Owners and Managers, today's international organization for building developers, owners, managers, operators, and providers actively and responsibly represents and promotes the interests of the commercial real estate industry. In North America, the Washington, D.C.-based Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Intl.'s membership comprises a combined total of more than 9 billion square feet of downtown and suburban commercial properties and facilities. In addition to 90 local associations throughout the United States, BOMA Intl. has 10 overseas affiliates in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines (2), and South Africa.

From a fast-growing, grassroots movement to cultivate dialogue and cooperation between professionals (which begun 100 years ago) to today's effective leadership, advocacy, and professional-development efforts, BOMA Intl. provides the industry with in-depth information and monitors and lobbies pertinent legislative, regulatory, and codes/standards issues. Its mission: "To enhance the human, intellectual, and physical assets of the commercial real estate industry through advocacy, research, standards, and information."
