National Terrorism Simulation Exercise Scheduled for June 21-22

Simulation exercise provides the opportunity to test emergency procedures

On April 25, 2006, Roger Platt, executive director at Real Estate ISAC (Information Sharing and Analysis Center), issued a memorandum regarding real estate companies’ participation in an upcoming national terrorism simulation exercise. Fifty real estate companies participated in “TOPOFF 3” (or “T3,” as it was called). The 2006 event is being referred to as TOPOFF 4 CPX (command post exercise), scheduled for June 21-22, and is open to the private sector. “As was the case with the larger T3 exercise, this new T4 CPX project offers real estate companies a unique opportunity to leverage a sophisticated high-production value federal simulation exercise to test their emergency response and business planning tools,” explains Platt.

According to the Herndon, VA-based National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), participants will:

  • Be included in simulated activities, including access to a CNN-type network (called Virtual News Network) that will broadcast relevant information regarding the scenario, including law enforcement bulletins, health department bulletins, and Homeland Security bulletins. All information will be delivered via streaming video online.
  • Be able to participate from their company’s office; time is limited to as little as 30 minutes per day.
  • Be asked to provide feedback to the Dept. of Homeland Security regarding the event.

Member companies of the Real Estate Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) are invited to participate.
