ERA explains how roofing systems impact voluntary green building standards

The EPDM Roofing Association (ERA) has published an interpretation of the guidelines for the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Green Building Rating System® as they relate to roofing standards. This information is available on the association’s website (www.epdmroofs.org).

According to the ERA, “The bulletin explains how roofing systems can impact the types of voluntary green building standards for commercial applications that are available from the USGBC, including LEED-NC Version 2.1 for New Construction and Major Renovations; LEED-EB for Existing Buildings; and LEED-CS for Core and Shell Development.”

Building owners, architects, and contractors can find out why and how the ballasted EPDM roofing system is a long-term sustainable roofing option. EPDM provides long-term performance, making it a logical choice in facilities striving for LEED certification. To find out more, visit the ERA website at (www.epdmroofs.org).
