Guidelines to be featured on Chamber’s website

Three of the Alexandria, VA-based American Society of Industrial Security’s  guidelines are now featured on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce website (www.uschamber.com). As the world’s largest not-for-profit business federation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce hopes to provide information to American businesses that have a large stake in national defense and homeland security issues. To help them achieve this goal, the ASIS Guidelines - General Security Risk Assessment Guideline, the Threat Advisory Response Guideline, and the Business Continuity Guideline - are provided on the site and can assist businesses as they make action plans, prepare for, and react to emergency situations.

“The U.S. Chamber’s partnership with ASIS Intl. on homeland security issues is active and mutually rewarding. We placed ASIS’ Guidelines on our homeland security website as a service to the more than 3 million businesses which belong to the U.S. Chamber,” explains Andrew Howell, vice president of Homeland Security for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “These guidelines are simple but highly useful tools. They were developed by security professionals but can be employed by nearly any organization to protect itself and recover from manmade or natural catastrophes.”

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security awarded the ASIS Guideline program with the SAFETY Act Designation. The security organization has been issuing guidelines since 2001.
