Roofing Company’s Federal Small Business Operation Joins Texas Mentor-Protégé Program

Tremco Has Been Accepted As a Formal Mentor in the State of Texas Mentor-Protégé Program.

Tremco Inc., a Beachwood, OH-based manufacturer of commercial roofing and building products, is proud to announce that it has been accepted as a formal Mentor in the State of Texas Mentor-Protégé© Program. The program is designed to help larger companies work closely with small, typically disadvantaged businesses, enabling the latter to overcome roadblocks to their success.

As a mentor, Tremco and its service division, Weatherproofing Technologies Inc. (WTI), are committed to creating long-term relationships with Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs) in the construction industry. HUBs can include but are not limited to businesses owned by women, minorities, and service disabled veterans. “This is wonderful recognition of Tremco's efforts to help small business attain prime contractor and sub-prime contractor status in Texas," said Tremco's Government Solutions Small Business Program Manager Beverly Kuykendall. “We have already been able to award our first two subcontracts to small business partners who have joined with us in the Mentor-Protégé program: Rain King and American Contracting."

Tremco's Federal Team initiated the Strategic Alliance Program to foster relationships, mentor, and train Small Business General Construction and Roofing firms. More specifically, Tremco provides its partners with technical training, marketing support, project submittal assistance, and project oversight. Area-specific small business specialists on Tremco's staff work directly with partners.

The Tremco Federal Small Business Strategic Alliance Program is an activity-intense, results-oriented program. The primary objective is to train and share vital business management and government marketing information with small business firms.  Tremco has strong relationships with 8(a), HUBZone and Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses throughout Texas and the United States. Many of these firms work with Tremco as primes on government contracts.  Partner firms add value to the products and services offered by Tremco. Through quality performance and strong business skills, these firms gain an opportunity to become a part of Tremco's commercial contractor base. This affords partner firms the opportunity to diversify their performance portfolios to include both government and commercial projects.

Tremco Inc. and its service division, Weatherproofing Technologies Inc. (WTI), provide, “Roofing and Weatherproofing Peace of Mind"™ to educational, healthcare, government, and industrial customers. In business since 1928, Tremco and WTI are ISO 9001:2000 certified companies. For more information about Tremco Roofing or WTI, visit (www.tremcoroofing.com) and (www.wtiservices.com), or call the companies toll-free at (800) 562-2728.
