New Trendway Seating
. . . . Trendway Corporation announced today that it has acquired the assets of the Everett, WA based manufacturer, CompuChair. The new entity will operate under the name CompuChair Michigan, LLC. “The acquisition of these product lines will allow Trendway to very quickly expand our seating offering,” says Don Heeringa, Trendway CEO and chairman. CompuChair, founded in 1991, has been dedicated to designing and producing affordable, ergonomically balanced office seating. The company has been operating facilities in Everett, WA and Leavenworth, KS. They manufactured more than a dozen product lines including task, multi-purpose and executive seating, which have been distributed primarily in the Northwest. At this time, Trendway plans to continue operations in the Washington and Kansas locations. “Our goal is to make the transfer as simple as possible for customers,” says Heeringa. “Key CompuChair staff will be retained to ensure that we continue the high level of customer service to which both companies are committed.” The current CompuChair collection of seating will continue to be sold through selected distribution channels that existed prior to the acquisition. Trendway dealers will be able to sell the CompuChair Michigan seating lines by early 2005.“These products have already exhibited success in the U.S. market,” continues Heeringa. “We know that these seating lines are compatible with our existing system products. One of our sales representatives also has been representing CompuChair and has had phenomenal success.”According to Heeringa, Trendway will continue to offer their existing Quincy, In, Prelude and Cameo chairs. Over the next several months, they plan to evaluate the complete collection, including those acquired from CompuChair, before making any decisions about specific models.“We are excited about the opportunity this acquisition provides,” says Heeringa. “CompuChair’s extensive product offering meets the quality and user needs of Trendway customers.”
