Airport exit lane features technology that detects, records, and instantly plays back 'wrong-way' motion
St. Louis, Missouri, January 6, 2004 - Cernium Inc., the leading developer of behavior-recognition software and intelligent video surveillance, today announced the installation of its ExitSentry™ security system at the Des Moines International Airport. The airport selected the company's proprietary video surveillance technology to enhance its existing security system to include immediate detection and alerting of any "wrong-way" motion in concourse exit lanes.Cernium Inc.'s ExitSentry is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved security technology, and has been in use at numerous North American airports as the solution for guarding and monitoring concourse exit lanes. ExitSentry was developed to ensure that no person or object could enter a passenger exit lane from the wrong direction in order to avoid security screening. In addition to immediately alerting security staff, the technology system digitally records and archives 24/7, and video can be instantly played back for immediate identification. At the moment of a security breech, all wrong way intrusions trigger alarms via audible and visual signals that are digitally recorded and instantaneously played back on video monitors."We're pleased that the Des Moines International Airport considered ExitSentry as the optimal security solution for its exiting passengers and baggage," commented Sean Patty, chief executive officer for Cernium Inc. "While many technology and staffing changes have been implemented to improve airport security, the initial focus for most airports was to monitor and screen passengers and baggage entering and moving through airports. Cernium's ExitSentry focuses on passenger traffic leaving the concourses, and is the optimal cost efficient solution for exit lane supervision and problem alerting. Now that the multiple transportation and security agencies are beginning to work in unison, the momentum for ExitSentry installations is on the increase."ExitSentry has been installed at over forty locations in twenty airports including Palm Beach International, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Lambert St. Louis International, Phoenix Sky Harbor International, Love Field in Dallas, and William P. Hobby in Houston.
