Tremco’s WTI Division First in North American Roofing Services to be ISO 9001:2000 Certified

“We encourage businesses that insist vendors and suppliers be ISO 9001:2000 certified to demand proof”

Beachwood, OH (January 5, 2004) – In the latest example of meeting its core value of surpassing customer expectations, Weatherproofing Technologies Inc. (WTI) has become the first roofing services operation in North America to be ISO 9001:2000 certified.  WTI is the services division of Tremco Roofing.

“We held ISO 9001:1994 certification for years,” said Todd Hadaway, WTI’s Quality and Technology Manager and management representative for the certification process. “However, we felt it was critical that WTI continue to be certified at this higher level.  ISO 9001:2000 certification simply makes us better.  Thoroughly documenting our procedures, processes and commitment to continuous improvement results in better services, which leads to greater customer satisfaction.  We also have plans in place to react quickly, consistently and correctly when problems arise.  We are so dedicated to meeting the current standards for certification that we wrote it into our corporate strategic plan.”

WTI is not just the first North American roofing services organization to attain ISO 9001:2000 certification, it is the only one. “We encourage businesses that insist vendors and suppliers be ISO 9001:2000 certified to demand proof,” said Hadaway.  “In roofing services, only WTI can produce the actual certificate.”

Becoming certified requires having a quality management system in place that meets ISO 9001:2000  standards.  A registrar or other party audits the system (Underwriters Laboratories Inc., of Oakbrook, IL, was WTI’s registrar for the ISO 9001:2000 certification process).  Certificates are issued to entities whose quality management system conforms to the standards: WTI’s certificate is File Number A4109.

In addition to this certification, Tremco’s and WTI’s commitment to quality includes meeting Underwriters Laboratories’ and Factory Mutual’s stringent performance testing and follow-up requirements.

Headquartered in Beachwood, Ohio, Tremco Incorporated and WTI, its service division, provide Roofing and Weatherproofing Peace of Mind to educational, healthcare, government and industrial customers. In business since 1928, Tremco joined the RPM International, Inc. family of companies in 1997.  For more information about Tremco Roofing or WTI, visit our websites, www.tremcoroofing.com or www.wtiservices.com, or call us at 1-800-562-2728.
