DuPont Flooring Systems Launches New Category Aimed At Creating and Sustaining Interior Environments

Becomes the Invironmentalists(tm) and Broadens Capabilities to Help Customers Enhance Their Image and Increase Productivity

DuPont Flooring Systems, a business unit of DuPont Textiles & Interiors, is now The Invironmentalists(TM) and is creating a new category in the building interior marketplace that focuses on creating and sustaining interior environments.

The Invironmentalists(TM), The Interior Services Company of DuPont Textiles & Interiors, is shifting its focus beyond sales and installation to a total life cycle, continuous care approach of floor coverings in corporate offices, healthcare facilities, government and educational institutions, restaurants, retail sites, hotels, and other commercial and institutional environments. The Invironmentalists(TM) has a separate residential services company that operates through five locations in the western United States where its interior service business is already established and growing.

"We are re-thinking the interior environment from the types of materials installed, to the manner in which they're maintained, and ultimately disposed," said Mike Paparone, CEO, The Invironmentalists(TM). "We are moving beyond commercial flooring to help customers develop vital interior environments that ultimately enhance their image, increase their productivity, and ensure the well-being of those who work in or visit their spaces."

Paparone said the short-term focus will be on building expanded flooring solutions consistently across the network of more than 90 locations then, in the mid- to long-term, expand well beyond flooring to full commercial interior solutions.

The Invironmentalists(TM) will market its expanded offerings to the end-user, which include building facility managers and property owners. The company will work with end-users to create and manage interior solutions that meet the demands of today's workplace environment for products that are durable, sustainable, economical and practical, while maximizing aesthetic value and functionality and helping to reduce their environmental footprint.

"The commercial interiors industry is changing. The various disciplines called upon to build out commercial spaces are now moving closer together. Now architects, designers and the public increasingly view these spaces as interior environments or 'invironments,'" said Paparone. "We've recognized an unanswered need among end-users for continuous care of flooring systems and interior solutions. Continuous Care extends beyond products and installations to the total project management approach we take covering all phases from planning through execution and ongoing vitalization. Our own evolution will allow us to continue delivering quality products and services with expanded breadth and recognized DuPont innovation."Offerings from the The Invironmentalists(TM) include:
    -- Interior Assessment
The Invironmentalists(TM) professionals will provide an interior assessment based on the type of image the organization wants to project, and then provide a personalized interior environment solution
.-- Products and Installation
Through its nationwide service and installation network, the Invironmentalists(TM) offers thousands of premium flooring products from carpet to hard surfaces. The Invironmentalists(TM) uses the latest technologies and certified craftsmen to ensure proper installation and a safety record 20 times better than the national industry average.

    -- Interior Vitalization
The Invironmentalists(TM) can assist building owners to enhance or vitalize their interior environments. With innovations like ResisTech(TM) carpet maintenance chemistry, interior spaces can look newer, up to twice as long. Vital interior environments translate into productive environments.

    -- Reclamation
The Invironmentalists(TM) approach to sustainability goes beyond recycling. It means choosing better performing products and installing and maintaining them properly, so they don't need to be replaced as often. And when flooring finally does wear out, The Invironmentalists(TM) reclamation service will ensure that the old flooring is re-used in products such as auto parts, engineering plastics, sod reinforcement, EcoSoft(R) Carpet Cushion and carpet backing -- rather than ending up in a landfill.
The DuPont(TM) Carpet Reclamation(R) program is the first and only reclamation program that takes in all types of carpet and has its environmental claims certified by a third-party organization, Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). The program also provides chain of custody verification that removes from customers any landfill disposal liability.

In addition, The Invironmentalists(TM) has enhanced its management team to include some of the most respected leaders in their respective fields, with each executive bringing more than 20 years experience. The team members are:

-- Michael Paparone, CEO. Michael Paparone has more than 29 years with DuPont, most recently as the global business director of DuPont(TM) Vespel(R), a high-performance engineering polymer, which was developed within the Engineering Polymer Strategic Business unit of DuPont. -- Doc Adams, Executive Vice President of Operations. Doc Adams has more than 22 years experience with DuPont, including significant experience with DuPont(TM) Corian(R). He was elevated to executive vice president of Operations for DuPont Flooring Systems in the spring of 2002. -- Sally Philson, Executive Vice President of Marketing. Sally Philson brings over 25 years of marketing and branding experience across business-to-business, corporate and consumer companies. In her new role at DuPont, she is responsible for developing the new branding strategy and building a national marketing presence for the company. -- Ron Rose, Executive Vice President of Sales. Ron Rose has more than 28 years experience in the flooring industry, including six years with DuPont Flooring Systems. He is a recognized flooring systems expert, and part of a group of visionaries who evolved flooring systems from a locally based business to one that leverages the scale of a nationwide network. -- Tina Tomei, President of The Invironmentalists(TM) Residential Services Company. Tina Tomei joined DuPont in 1990. She was elevated to president after serving as DuPont Residential Flooring Systems vice president of Marketing.

Through its more than 90 locations in North America and Canada, The Invironmentalists(TM), formerly DuPont Flooring Systems, help customers keep interiors looking better longer through sustainable products and services, including low environmental impact flooring, vitalization and maintenance services and the only reclamation program that takes in all types of carpet and is certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).
