Teknion Becomes First Furniture Manufacturer to Receive GREENGUARD Certification for IAQ

Atlanta, GA, June, 2003 - The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute awards their first certification for low chemical emissions in the office furniture category to the Teknion Corp. The Certified Teknion furniture was tested based on stringent indoor air quality standards. The major lines of Teknion furniture were proven to have minimal impact on the indoor environment, according to requirements used by the US Environmental Protection Agency, State of Washington Indoor Air Quality Program, and the US Green Building Council. "For Teknion, it is an important achievement in our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability," said Teknion President and CEO, David Feldberg. The Teknion furniture certified by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute includes: T/O/S, Transit, and Leverage panel systems; Expansion line of casegoods and systems; Ability line of mobile office furniture; Altos full-height architectural wall system; Chronicle and Ledger storage and filing lines; Aegis, Advocate, Amicus, Belize, Dharma, Harrington, Synopsis, t-3, Taiga, Vasari, and Zone Seating.GREENGUARD tested and certified office furniture is a requirement for the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) Program. LEED-CI projects can earn Credit 4.5 in the Indoor Environmental Quality area for specifying certified furniture.
