ThyssenKrupp Elevator Forms New Product Planning Group Focuses on Next Generation Products and Services

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 2002--ThyssenKrupp Elevator has announced an increased focus on research and development with the formation of the TRIaD (ThyssenKrupp Research Innovation and Design) Product Planning Group, according to John Brant, CEO ThyssenKrupp Elevator.


    The TRIaD group will work with other ThyssenKrupp product planning groups throughout the world to create state-of-the-art products and services. Not only will these new products and services be implemented into the elevator industry, but technology developed will be available to all ThyssenKrupp companies for use in their diverse areas of commerce.


    TRIaD will evaluate current and new technologies to create the next generation of elevator products and services. The group also will assess products from current and potential suppliers for ways to improve quality and performance while reducing costs.


    The TRIaD group is located in El Cajon, California, just minutes from San Diego. Rory Smith, vice president of product planning, leads the team, bringing with him 32 years of elevator experience. The other nine team members provide experience from various disciplines including mechanical engineering, electronics, information technology, software engineering, marketing research, computer aided design, computer aided manufacturing, and operations management.
