Exterior Stain for Cladding That Weathers In Place
Nakamoto Forestry’s Silver Weathering Stain is a manufacturer-applied finish that evokes the look of naturally aged wood while eliminating the need for ongoing maintenance. It’s inspired by the muted, silvery tones of coastal architecture and is designed to weather in place, gradually fading from a pigmented silver to a sun-bleached gray over time. The exterior stain is offered on two of Nakamoto Forestry’s signature cladding products: Sugi and Gendai.
Sugi is unburned Japanese cedar with a clean, sawn surface, while Gendai is a traditional yakisugi siding that’s created by charring sugi and brushing away the soot to reveal a smooth, refined texture. The heat treatment makes the wood resistant to moisture, pests, fire, and UV damage. Both are crafted from Cryptomeria japonica, a fast-growing species of cedar that’s native to Japan and responsibly harvested from forests managed by Nakamoto Forestry.
