Automated Logic debuts Building Automation-as-a-Service at AHR 2022

Feb. 10, 2022
New SaaS offering for the company's WebCTRL building automation system (BAS) is powered by Amazon Web Services and brings deployment flexibility to customers.

At the recent AHR Expo 2022 (Jan. 31 - Feb. 2), an event sponsored by ASHRAE and AHRI, building management technology specialist Automated Logic, a subsidiary of Carrier Global Corp. (NYSE: CARR), announced that it is enabling more flexible building automation to customers via its new hosted and managed software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering, WebCTRL Cloud.

Automated Logic says this new option for the company's WebCTRL building automation system (BAS) "brings deployment flexibility to customers, while helping them scale for growth and reduce their support burden."

The new WebCTRL Cloud solution is available for a subscription fee, providing a predictable cost of ownership. The subscription fee includes cloud-hosting, server maintenance, WebCTRL site reliability monitoring, database redundancy and backups, and software upgrades.

The company contends that this feature set "eliminates the need for customers to install, configure, and manage a building automation server in the building. In addition, there is no costly IT infrastructure to maintain, and IT compliance directives for the server - including reliability, security, and uptime – are managed by Automated Logic," added a press release.

Powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), WebCTRL Cloud provides a reliable, scalable, infrastructure on demand as well as a secure, isolated computer environment for each WebCTRL Cloud deployment and leverages AWS Application Migration Service to make the transition seamless for existing customers.

The company notes that both new and existing customers can take advantage of WebCTRL Cloud, as it supports projects across multiple vertical markets, including commercial office buildings, K-12 schools, higher education and hospitality.

"Customers will also have peace-of-mind knowing that WebCTRL Cloud uses BACnet Secure Connect to encrypt network communications and keep their building automation networks secure. In addition, AWS cybersecurity products help keep customer sites protected," added the company's statement.

“We have a history of providing innovative, flexible, and simple solutions, and our customers can now choose how to deploy their WebCTRL system,” concluded Mead Rusert, President, Automated Logic. “With WebCTRL Cloud, we are transforming building automation for the digital age by providing customers with an opportunity to save energy, keep occupants comfortable, and save money by replacing upfront expenditure and support costs with convenient periodic subscriptions.”
