As part of its intelligent building portfolio of offerings, Cisco provides an online intent-based networking (IBN) assessment tool that the company says allows users “to understand how you really compare to thousands of IT leaders across industries and from around the world.”

The company describes the IBN initiative: “With an estimated $2 trillion global spend on digital transformation technologies in 2022, your network is becoming exponentially more important. Organizations worldwide are already on their way to evolving their network to an intent-based networking model that can deal with agility, scale, complexity and security challenges posed by digital transformation.”

Cisco further explains, “IBN builds on software-defined networking by using a network controller that acts as a central control point for network activity. Such controllers are crucial for network abstraction that lets IT treat the network as an integrated whole. Controller-led networks in all domains collaborate and extend their benefits throughout the enterprise and help make digital transformation a reality. The assessment tool asks a series of questions about an organization in order to form the assessment.
