The relationship between facility management and information technology (IT) is one that takes further steps to explore and investigate. IT security has become a hot topic in light of recent breaches, in both the private and public sector. Internet of Things has opened a door for new technologies to streamline processes for building operators.
To assess the state of IT today in commercial buildings, a collaboration between the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Information Technology (IT) Community and the computer-aided facility management (CAFM) working group (Arbeitskreis CAFM) of the German Facility Management Association (GEFMA) have produced an updated edition of the popular book, The Facility Manager’s Guide to Information Technology.
Editors Michael May, Ph.D., and Geoff Williams, FMP, along with an international team of more than 20 respected authors created the book’s content, making this comprehensive subject and textbook an authoritative resource for the FM profession, according to the partners.
This second edition was pre-released at the Third Annual Technology Symposium, a collaborative effort between the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of IFMA and the North Texas Chapter of CoreNet, on January 26, 2017. The editors also held a book signing at the INservFM event in Frankfurt, Germany, on February 21, 2017, and will make copies available after a 9 a.m. session at the IFMA’s Facility Fusion Conference and Expo on April 6, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
