CMMS Can Improve Operations

Increasing numbers of FMs in retail operations are utilizing work order management practices such as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), according to a new survey from the Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM). The Work Order Management Practices Benchmarking Report found that 93% of retail FMs who use CMMS reported better accountability and communication with vendors.

The survey, designed to help understand how metrics are used in the field and possible benefits to industry standardization, also found that 82% of suppliers and 93% of surveyed FMs would support CMMS standards and believe they would improve the industry. Additionally, the researchers found that over 50% of retailers use a third-party CMMS to manage work orders, while 25% use an in-house version, 17% use one from a vendor or supplier, and just 7% still manage work orders manually with spreadsheets.
