BOMA members came out strong to support the initiative organized by BOMA International Cornerstone Partners and assemble toiletry kits on the expo floor.

More than 2,500 kits were assembled quicker than expected for Salt Lake City’s new Geraldine E. King Women’s Resource Center, which provides a place for displaced women facing addiction, mental illness and homelessness.

The kits will be donated to Volunteers of America, Utah, for distribution. The donation activity was met with a great response, said Alan Stein of twio, the partner who helped with the event. “Attendees apreaciated that they could help, and thought this is a good use of exhibit hall space,” he said, noting it was good to bring together the CRE community to help the host city.

BOMA International’s Cornerstone Partners are teaming up to tackle a complex issue—homelessness—and they need your help.

Each Cornerstone Partner contributed essential items to create much-needed toiletry kits for Salt Lake City’s Geraldine E. King Center for Women and Children, which provides a place for displaced women facing addiction, mental illness and homelessness to find firmer footing while staying with their children.

Conference attendees can lend a helping hand by stopping by the Cornerstone Pavilion to help assemble the kits during expo floor hours, as Monica Emerton, president/owner of Green Connection and member of BOMA/Anchorage, did in the image below.

BOMA International has a goal of donating at least 2,500 kits to Volunteers of America Utah, which will handle distribution. Keri Taylor, a member of BOMA International’s executive board and sales director of commercial real estate for Trane, encouraged BOMA members during Sunday’s general session to set their own kit goals high as well.

Win the networking event by having as many members of your local BOMA organization as possible visit the pavilion to assemble kits.

“In addition to helping make a difference, the Cornerstone Partners wanted to give the attendees another incentive to lend a hand,” Taylor says. “When you come to the pavilion to assemble the kits, you have a chance to win a Cornerstone Partner-sponsored networking event—and you all know we throw a heck of a party.”

Win the networking event by having as many members of your local BOMA organization as possible visit the pavilion to assemble kits. A staff member at the registration table will scan everyone’s badges.

The scans are used to calculate how many people from your local organization helped put the kits together, and if at least 60% of your local assocation’s attendees chip in, you’ll be entered into the drawing to win the event.
