As the solid-state lighting industry continues to grow, customers need to be reassured that the products they are purchasing will exhibit stated performance levels while also meeting any applicable standards. This Webcast will discuss techniques for test and measurement, as well as the process of safety certification.

Todd Straka of Intertek will discuss safety certification of solid-state lighting products. This will primarily focus on describing the product safety certification process and the considerations to make when starting to undertake the process. Information will be provided on the specific Product Safety Standards utilized for solid-state lighting and the types of testing that products can expect to undergo during that process. Manufacturers often ask "What can we do to ensure that our products meet the applicable Safety Standards before we send them to you for Certification?" Obviously, this is where R&D testing can play a vital role in ensuring a smooth certification process.

Labsphere’s Greg McKee will discuss the challenges that manufacturers of solid-state lighting are facing, and the steps that industry leaders are taking to address these issues. This will be followed by an overview of the different test and measurement techniques and equipment that are typically used for characterizing different light sources.
