5 products for smarter facility upgrades

Sept. 12, 2023
From remote building monitoring and energy management to POTS replacements, these new solutions will help keep your facility on the cutting edge.

Square D Control Relays, Schneider Electric

Schneider Electric’s new Square D Control Relays and the Schneider Energy Monitor add smart panel functionality to standard home electrical systems. The modular, flexible solution offers homeowners app-based control with easier installation and at a lower cost than current smart panel options, according to the company. The Square D Control Relays are designed to snap directly onto the Square D QO Plug-on Neutral breakers, while the Schneider Energy Monitor can be added directly into the panel at the same time.

iRox and iRox Plus, Essex Electronics

iRox and iRox Plus from Essex Electronics are heavy-duty, touchless RFID smart card readers with a low-profile design. These all-weather, vandal-, and ligature-resistant units constructed of stainless steel. The units support HID Mobile Access and have a read range of up to 3 inches. Audio and visual indication occurs when a credential is presented to the reader; audio and bi-colored illumination can also be host controlled.

Remote Building Manager, Honeywell

Honeywell Remote Building Manager enables owners and tenants to monitor and manage a building’s energy use and reduce operational costs 24/7 from any location on a variety of devices, thanks to its cloud-based capabilities. The software also makes it simple to monitor carbon and indoor air quality. The cost-effective, subscription-based software requires minimal hardware, capital expenses and on-site IT support to run or maintain and can be installed and configured in hours.

Level 2 EV Charger, Legrand

The new, user-friendly Legrand Networked Level 2 Commercial Electrical Vehicle Charger comes factory-configured with software from EV charging provider AmpUp, offering an effortless installation and charging management experience. The charger provides facility professionals with an all-in-one solution suitable for offices, parking garages, multi-unit dwellings, and fleets. The 48A (11.5kW) Level 2 networked charger is designed to deliver a fast, safe, and reliable charging experience and is equipped with advanced features such as real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics, and customizable settings.

Ooma AirDial, Ooma

The Ooma AirDial is an innovative solution that addresses the looming retirement of legacy copper-wire analog phone service (also known as “plain old telephone service,” or POTS) that affect critical equipment and systems—such as fire alarm panels, elevator, other public safety phones—that can’t be migrated to Voice Over Internet (VOIP) service. The AirDial is a complete replacement solution for POTS that combines data- and voice-connection and cloud-based management for remote access across multiple locations.
