First Worldwide Product Category Standard for Hand Dryers Published by UL Environment

Sept. 14, 2016

The new provision allows product purchasers and specifiers to assess environmental impacts of hand dryers.

UL Environment announced it will publish its first global Product Category Rule (PCR) for hand dryers. Publishing this new PCR signals the first step in developing EPDs, which will allow product purchasers and specifiers to assess environmental impacts of hand dryers in a side-by-side comparison that follows ISO International Standards.

Manufactures including Excel Dryer, World Dryer and FASTDRY (Hokwang Industries) collaborated in the creation of the PCR to provide the industry with thorough and transparent product evaluation standards.

World Dryer stated that the collaborative publication provides the industry with “clear, consistent product evaluation methods” that will help companies achieve their sustainability goals and find products they can trust.

Excel Dryer added that consumers and manufacturers now have the tool they need to make more knowledgeable decisions on what products to purchase for progressive environmental practices.
