BUILDINGS magazine has won a prestigious publishing award from Folio: magazine.

The Stamats Business Media business-to-business (B2B) publication took home an Eddie & Ozzie Award in the category of Immersive/Interactive Storytelling, B2B/Consumer, for Active Shooter Drills: An Eye-Opening Encounter.

This first-person article and podcast by editor-in-chief Janelle Penny (pictured) explored what it was like to go through an active shooter drill at Stamats’ Cedar Rapids office and was accompanied by 360-degree video from the drill.

The winners were announced at the 2019 Folio: Eddie and Ozzie Awards Gala on Oct. 30 in New York. Stamats’ other B2B publications, interiors+sources and Meetings Today, took home another three Eddie Awards that night, winning all four categories in which they were finalists.

BUILDINGS editor-in-chief Janelle Penny accepted four awards on behalf of Stamats, the parent company of BUILDINGS, interiors+sources and Meetings Today. One of the awards recognized BUILDINGS for its in-depth, immersive coverage of an active shooter drill at Stamats’ Cedar Rapids headquarters.

Folio:’s Eddie and Ozzie Awards recognize excellence in content and design across the publishing industry. Judges narrowed more than 2,500 entries to a pool of about 1,100 finalists in 33 categories.

“It was impressive to see the diversity of publications winning,” says Penny, who accepted the awards on behalf of Stamats. “We were in good company—everyone represented there cares about bringing the best content to their audiences. It felt great to know that Stamats brands were recognized for all the hard work we’re doing.”

BUILDINGS also won several Maggie and Azbee awards earlier this year for its work in B2B publishing. Read more about them here.
